Dragon Slaying Competition

Pancakes For Roger is excited to roll out another awesome event to support veterans.  This time, we're making your summer sizzle with our Virtual Dragon Slaying competition!

Registration opens Friday, May 3 at 12am EST.

50 bucks gets each competitor an entry ticket and a chance to win the overall division competition or a single event. There are 4 divisions: women’s 16-44, women’s 45+, men’s 16-44, and men’s 45+. Athletes who want to compete need to be at least 16 years old by June 6th, 2024.

The competition will consist of three lifts taking place over three consecutive weekends, so you will have plenty of time to demonstrate your strength and recover for the next go-around. Each of the four divisions will have one (1) overall winner, and there will be one (1) winner for each specific lift. (See below as to why it’s not guaranteed to be the big guy in the corner.) So That’s 7 prizes total - and hey, who doesn't like prizes?

The first workout will be published on Thursday, June 6th - which happens to be the 80th anniversary of the Normandy landings, also known as D-Day. The following 2 workouts will be released each of the following two weeks on Thursday. All lifts will stay a secret till it’s released. Do NOT expect anything too crazy. Think about basic barbell movements and you'll be fine.

For this competition, we’ll be scoring your lift using the Wilks method, which allows us to score your performance relative to your bodyweight (for more info, including a calculator, click here). If you are in the top 10 of each event, plan on being asked for proof of weight to verify Wilks scores. This keeps things fair and square for everyone competing.  You’ll have from Thursday till Sunday to submit your score. (Lift descriptions will have more details surrounding specific deadlines including time hacks when they are published.)

Submitting Your Lift

Athletes can use any video recording device to capture their lift, but you are responsible for the video quality.  Remember - if the judges can't see your movements clearly, your submission may be rejected.

For your submission to be acceptable, you need to include these in your video:

  • State your full name clearly into the camera

  • Show the equipment that you’ll be using for the lift, including a clear view of any barbells or plates and their respective weight values.

  • Complete the lift as prescribed with a clear viewing angle of your movements.

PRO TIP: For the lift, position your camera so that the completion of each movement as described in the lift standard may be verified and judged correctly! We recommend you record a few practice movements so that you know where to place your camera.

We’ll be accepting videos from the following platforms:

  • YouTube

  • Vimeo

  • Dropbox

  • Google

  • iCloud

ONE SUBMISSION PER ATHLETE - so submit your best stuff!

We Support Veterans!

As a bonus we're offering your summer wardrobe some sweet shirts, tanks and hoodies for competitors and non-competitors alike in our merch store, so please have a look and know that a portion of every purchase goes to the veteran causes that we support.

Speaking of which...this Pancakes For Roger event supports the Veteran's Law Clinic at Mizzou, an organization dedicated to helping veterans throughout the country in need with discharge upgrades and Department of Veterans Affairs disability compensation claims - free of charge.
